Carey said Webtrends has adopted a new iterative development cycle, which will include more frequent updates to products and technologies and provide customers more opportunity to provide feedback and influence the updates. “Our goal is to be open and transparent, and engage you in the process,” he said.
Carey explained how recent investments Webtrends is making in its architecture have detached the presentation layer of its online products from the backend systems. This will enable faster, more flexible development.
Streamlined integration of Webtrends data with other data and systems is also at the core of the company’s product strategy. Organizations don’t want to buy all of their tools from a single company, Carey said, so Webtrends will continue to expand its support for standards-based methods of data extraction and integration. In addition to the new no-cost data extraction APIs released at Engage, Webtrends will this summer release no-charge data collection APIs that make it easier to get data into systems, he said.
Carey said Webtrends is also making big investments in improving user experience – a total of 23,472 hours of staff time, to be exact, this year alone. Customers can expect a more professional interface with fewer buttons and controls. In many cases, the actual data will be the interface, which customers will click on to explore.
